The Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream comes in an attractive, weighty, deep red plastic jar with a silver twist cap. A clear label bearing the product's name is affixed to the front of the jar - I wish it was actually printed on the jar because I feel like the label cheapens the overall look of the product. While I'm never in favor of jars for moisturizers, I can't help but like the look of this moisturizer's packaging! Unfortunately, packaging doesn't seem to be recyclable.
Olay's Regenerist-Micro Sculpting Cream is a thick, rich, white cream; very similar in texture to Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre. This dense yet emollient cream needs to be massaged into the skin to help it sink in fully, a process that will take up a few minutes of your time - this certainly isn't an apply-and-go product. Because of this, and the lack of SPF, I think Olay's Micro-Sculpting Cream is best used at night. This anti-aging cream is quite moisturizing, immediately softening and plumping up the skin while helping to smooth and soothe dry patches. Since I'm only 24, with relatively young, unwrinkled skin, I can't really comment on how well this moisturizer "micro-sculpts" the skin, but a quick peek at the ingredient list tells me it can't have that strong of an effect. What it can do, however, is inject your skin with a healthy dose of hyaluronic acid - a chemical that naturally occurs in the skin, which is capable of holding 1000x it's weight in water. This massive influx of hydration will of course make your skin appear fuller, and perhaps "micro-sculpted", at least temporarily. Though Olay's Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream can't really "reduce the look of 10 years of wrinkles" (if it did, I might look just like my 8th grade photo, which is quite cute!), it does contain enough vitamins and antioxidants to benefit the skin.
The Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream has a standard base of water and glycerin to hydrate the skin, supplemented with a high concentration of naicinamide (Vitamin B3), an antioxidant rich ingredient that promotes circulation and helps to reduce uneven skin tone. While niacinamide may be the star of the show here, the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream also contains a bunch of beneficial ingredients high up on the ingredient list, not limited to: panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), plumping hyaluronic acid, aloe, allantoin, and olive oil! The center to end of the ingredient list is comprised of generally non-problematic emulsifiers and thickening ingredients, but those avoiding parabens should be advised - this cream contains three varieties. The Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is available in fragranced and unfragranced formula; while I was sent the fragranced version, I would recommend the unfragranced version. If you do pick up the fragranced version, be ready for a potent floral scent!
I like a lot of things about Olay's Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, but I think it's claims are quite overblown. This rich moisturizer is a solid, albeit slightly pricey (for the drugstore) choice for those with dry-to-normal skin types and those that are trying to combat the first signs of aging but aren't ready to graduate to move active (and more expensive) night creams. If you have combo-to-oily skin, you'll probably want to pass on the Micro-Sculpting Cream, which may be too heavy for your skin. I've just finished my jar, after 4 months of nightly use, and have moved on to a more affordable option from Olay's range, but I'd consider repurchasing the Micro Sculptin- Cream in the future. I certainly think this moisturizer is worth trying if it suits your needs, but do keep in mind that it isn't a face lift in a jar. Keep your expectations realistic, and I think you'll like this product.
